Leave National airport at 6am and take a 22 minute flight to Philadelphia. (Is that hilarious or what?) I arrived in Houston, Texas around 11am and rented a little car. It was a Chevy Aveo.
Mine was the "sedan" (LOL) not the hatchback. This car was pretty tiny. It only took up half a parking spot.
I got a little lost on my way out of Houston but once on the road it took me about 3 hours to get to San Antonio. When I arrived in town I stopped at H.E.B. to pick up some supplies: wine, flowers, anti-eye puff gel, and some aloe Kleenex.
Our reunion was great. I hugged Liz, gave her the flowers, and assessed the mess of an apartment. We then went for Starbucks, picked up Gabby (who is now 9 and SO BIG!) and then we began to excavate the living room and kitchen. Gabby took out about 6 bags of trash on her roller skates while Liz and I picked up all around us. After about 1 hour of cleaning we could successfully pour our selves a glass of wine (or 4 bottles) and sit down, placing our glasses on the coffee table. A place that wasn't visible before.

Somehow Liz and I shed our hangovers to get Gabby to school on time. Then we were off to the bagel place for coffee & bagels. Eventually, our day evolved in to shopping, manicures, pedicures, facials, and ended in a FANCY dinner at Flemings, a fine restaurant and wine bar that I discovered in Food & Wine Magazine. Out of kindness and Sympathy, the staff at Flemings gave Elizabeth a Chocolate Lava cake to sooth her weary soul. The food, the wine, & the lava cake were superb!
For after dinner drinks we met up with Josh (one of Liz's close friends), Liz's sister Caroline and her husband Scott at the Fox & The Hound. Martinis were had.

Although Liz had a wonderful time at Flemings she woke up sobbing. Because I didn't want to over whelm her with my obnoxious Positive Polly behavior -- I left her alone to be sad. I went to eat breakfast, make a massage appointment, and then did some shopping. Midday Liz crawled out of bed to go with me to get Gabby at the grandparents house. There I got to see Liz's parents and their house (which I spent lots of teenage time in!). That afternoon I took it upon myself to go get a one hour massage. Guess how much it cost? $39.99! Can you believe it? I think I threw a nap in my day somewhere and a lot of reading....ahhh nice!
Saturday night we watched movies. Liz seemed to be a bit happier by this part of the day.

Liz was sobbing again but we had things to do! We promised to take Gabby to the drive through zoo. We got up, got dressed and headed out to feed the wild animals in the drive through zoo. We had a great time together and I know by the end of the day Liz was in good spirits. That night, as part of our good-bye ceremony, we drank 3 bottles of wine, smoked cigarettes, and watched The Notebook. It was deep.
I also cleared a pathway from the bed to the bathroom by throwing out 3 bags of trash and whatnot.

7 a.m. I began my long trip home & was finally back in Eric's arms by 9:45pm that night. LONG DAY! But the trip was good. I only hope that Liz can move on and not be so sad!
