Love the New Job

I love my new job. It's finally started to pick up and I'm feeling.....needed. Every Executive Assistant needs to feel needed. I spent the first few weeks wondering around like a human specimen that had landed on a strange planet and now I finally fit in. I can make copies on our massive, "I have to have a PhD to utilize this function!" copier. I can finally work alone instead of with my "ambassador" (although, as a military brat, why did we not have an "ambassador" in each of the new schools we were in????).

I just got assigned another Executive to monitor. When I say monitor I mean track his where abouts, make sure that he's where he's supposed to be and that he is prepared to be there. It's great!

It's also time consuming!

I'm a travel agent on call.

I spent most of today juggling questions from my Execs:

  1. "What are my flights options??"
  2. "Is that a DIRECT FLIGHT or will I have a lay over (*sad face*)?"
  3. "Do I really HAVE to be there BE THERE?"
  4. "Can I not get in any earlier (*sad face*)? Out any later (*sad face8)?"
  5. "What is on the agenda?"

Or then there are the questions from the Executive Assistants who are setting up the meetings...

  1. "What does your Exec like to eat??"
  2. "When will he arrive?"
  3. "Can I have his detailed itinerary -- 6 months in advance?"
  4. "Did you order him a car to get him to and from the meeting?"
  5. "Do you know his astrological sign?"

#5 was a lie

But I do love my job. My bosses are great and they think when I do ONE SMALL THING that I've walked on the moon and that's what counts!
