We have decided to give Pepper back to the rescue to find a better home. After 4 weeks of living together it's becoming obvious that we are just not a match. Over the weekend Pepper escaped the back yard 5 times. She's not going far -- just to the neighbors yard -- but we can't have that. The benefit of having a fenced in yard in a neighborhood is that everyone gets their own space. I don't want the pit bull on our one side hanging out in my back yard. I'm sure the other neighbors don't want Pepper pooping in their yard either.
On top of that -- Pepper's fear of the TV has gotten worse. She won't even sit in the same room as the TV now. I have tried the training suggestions that the rescue gave us but it's to the point where we both believe that a T-Bone steak, hot off the grill, would not be enough for her to consider sitting in the same room as the TV. Being that we're avid TV watchers this puts a big kink in our daily routine. I can't tell you the last time I watched the morning news while getting ready for work like I've always done.
So ..... sometime before Christmas Pepper will be going back to her Foster home waiting for the right adoption situation to come along. She's a lovely dog and if anyone out there is looking for a very active dog you can go to www.bimmersbcr.org and request an application.
Will we be adopting another dog? I'm not sure. I think for now we're going to concentrate on having this baby. I'm sure at some point we'll want a family dog that we can all snuggle with and enjoy. When that time comes I think we'll definitely be looking for a dog that loves a fenced in backyard and TV time!
