Movies Update

Here is a list of some movies we've seen lately and our thoughts.

Adventureland

We expected this movie to be hilarious. I guess from the previews I got the impression that it was going to be fun line after funny line like Juno or the off the wall movie Hot Rod. It wasn't. It was a sad movie highlighted by funny moments. I guess it was misleading that the cast was made up of all comedic actors. And it was set in the 80's which always promises to be hilarious. The movie was good -- it just wasn't what was expected.

Slumdog Millionaire

Eric and I watched this movie last night. It was good and plenty entertaining, I guess. Neither of us really got what the hype was about. Maybe since we saw it after the awards and after all the publicity hype we had higher expectations than the average person. I'm a little confused as to why it was so loved.

Things We Lost In The Fire

Deannie has been bugging me to see this movie for months now. I finally caught it on HBO and I loved it! It was really well done and it made me bawl my eyes out! I can really connect with the parts about the grieving spouse and the recovering addict because of things that have happened in the last 5-10 years of my life. (No, Eric's not dead and I do not have a substance abuse problem). Maybe that's why this movie had such an impact on me -- but I have a hard time believing that anyone can sit through this movie without being moved! Good pick Deannie! Good pick!

Satisfaction

I watched this movie this weekend with my girlfriends. It was on HBO and we were in a hanging out to watch a movie kind of mood. The girls couldn't believe that I'd never seen it and neither could I. I thought I'd seen all the girlie movies from the 80s! Anyway - it was pretty darn cute! I like the girl band thing and I love Justine Bateman. Where did she go?

Adventureland - I haven't seen it but I have to agree with your comment about Juno and the fact that it was absolutely hilarious. Probably one of my favorite movies, ever.

Slumdog Millionare - also haven't seen it but after watching the previews it doesn't seem like a movie that I would like anyway and I, too, don't see what all the fuss was about.
