Our doggy has gone deaf.
We thought she was just being bad for the last few months but it turns out she's really going deaf.
Signs:
We call her and she doesn't come.
We call her and she doesn't get in bed.
We call to ask if she wants to "go out side!" and she doesn't respond.
I approached her after a walk so I could put her leash on, and she didn't hear me, so she jumped 6 inches in the air, scared to death.
If you stand behind her, out of her site, and say her name over and over again -- she has no idea.
She no longer wakes to the alarm clock at 7am to take Eric's position in bed.
Deaf dog.
I now have to resort to wild and unscripted sign language. Last night I wanted her to simply get in bed with me so I could watch a movie. Something we do together often. Just to get her up in the bed I had to flail my arms about and beat on the mattress. She looked at me confused for awhile until she finally figured it out that I needed her, pronto, in bed.
