Gift

Last night I caught Carly picking her nose. No big thing. It's not a first ....so I went back to whatever I was doing. A few seconds later she came up to me and said, "Mamma" and handed me something. This is pretty typical. She'll find something small on the floor -- and she's learned not to put it in her mouth but instead hand it to Mommy or Daddy. She handed me a large (healthy pea sized) booger and off she went. Gross. That was a parenting first for me. Am I proud that she's now at the age that she can excavate her own boogers? Probably. Was I happy that she gave up the foreign, potentially dangerous object instead of putting it in her mouth. Sure. Am I thinking about the method in which I can teach her to place her booger prizes in a tissue of her own -- most definitely. And a little grossed out too.
