Yesterday was Curt's appointment with the Chemo Doctor (whose official title escapes me right now...) and so I was on Brodie Duty after work. After the appointment -- Curt, Holly & Curt's parents went out to dinner in Baltimore. Curt had a steak! Go Curt! The doctor had some encouraging news regarding the chemo process. Curt's got a Plan A chemo plan and a Plan B chemo plan. Plan B being a clinical trial. He also touched on the fact that Curt is 30 years younger then the average PanCan patient which makes his resilience to the chemo top notch!
After I got caught up on the chemo news Holly and I descended to the basement for some one-on-one best friend time. Since the beginning of this entire life change we've not been able to really sit and chat about what's going on. We had a good (and long!) cry, hug and talk session. We also had a few bottles of wine. By the time it was over I felt better and I think she felt better. I finally got to express my concerns about her and the importance of taking care of herself during all this. She got to bounce some tough life questions off of me -- none of which I had answers to. I don't think anyone has the answers to these questions. I took a cab home and got in to bed around 1am.
This morning I was awake at 6:30am thinking about the talk. I got up, showered, put on my tennis shoes and walked (3.3 miles) back to Holly's to get my car. It was cold but also a good opportunity to rethink all that was discussed in the basement and a good opportunity to train out for the Breast Cancer walk this May.
