So in 2007 I donated $230.00. It really felt like more. I could have SWORN I spent more money than that! I guess I bought a lot of charity related stuff that doesn't count as donating.
For example: Those cute, yet expensive, little kids that come around during Christmas and want you to buy wrapping paper from them? I bought it. I frequented the http://www.choosehope.com/ website and bought lots of "Cancer Sucks" items. Plus I bought oodles of Pancreatic Cancer gear this year to show my disgust in the disease -- and my support in the spread of PanCan awareness.
Anyway -- those items aren't considered true donations and therefore don't get written off on your tax return. I know a portion of the money you use to buy from these vendors does go towards your a cause......but I do wish it would count toward the big picture!
**Trying to count pennies over here for the buying of the new home!!
