Holly's 30th

Hello! I'm feeling better! Sunday morning was the first morning that I can say I felt human after being so sick since Tuesday. I still have that annoying post-illness cough but I'm much more alert and I no longer sound like a troll.

Holly's 30th birthday is this Wednesday. I am very excited that she's turning 30. I don't know why -- maybe it's just that I want her to be 30 with me? Since her birthday is on a Wednesday this year we decided to celebrate her birthday over this last weekend. Her request was that we spend a quiet weekend at the beach house. Little did she know I had a little something up my sleeve! Her long-distance best friend Leslie and I made arrangements for Les to fly up here on Friday night and surprise Holly by being a guest on our trip to the beach house.

Friday night Holly and I dropped Brodie off at my parents house so that we could begin our Birthday celebration weekend! I took her to dinner at a yummy Thai restaurant in Vienna and then we went back to her house for movies and wine. Originally, I was going to take her to a bar in Old Town after dinner but I was just too sick and tired to do that -- plus -- with the troll voice it would have made it impossible for us to communicate over all the bar energy that would be surrounding us. Going home seemed to be ok with Holly -- who had no idea Leslie was arriving by cab at 10:30pm. Around 9:45pm Holly suggested that we call it a night and head up to bed. I mildly refused -- explaining that there was a delivery coming. She was a little confused I guess and slightly worried that the Pajama look wouldn't be appropriate for whatever I had in store. I eased her fears and in the end she was very happy to see her birthday present, Leslie, walk through the front door. After Les got there I had one drink and then I went home to get some healing sleep before the trip to the beach house while they had some alone time to catch up.

Saturday morning we all went to breakfast together and then headed down to the beach house. Once we arrived we went straight for the PJ pants and wine. I ordered a pizza and we watched Love Actually. After that we stayed up until 1am talking and eating. It was great! Sunday I slept in, Holly took a nice hot bath, and eventually Leslie had to hop on a plane home. The weekend turned out great and Holly says the surprise was wonderful! I feel good both about my gift to her and her turning 30.
