Saturday night Eric and I had a date night. We dropped Carly off with Mom and Dad at thier condo in National Harbor and we went to one of the many restaurants down there. We had dinner in a super fancy steak house called The Old Hickory Steakhouse.
Afterwards we had a few drinks in a private bar at the Gaylord Hotel The bar is called Pose Ultra Lounge and it's normally only open to hotel guests but my parents got special passes when they first bought thier condo at the harbor. I was DYING to see what the bar was like because it's kept such a secret. Once I solved the mystery I wasn't that impressed. It was fine I guess -- just not our scene.
To get to Pose you have to take a special elevator up to the 18th floor. It is basically a super modern club with a great view and over priced drinks. The music was interesting (Bobby Brown's My Prerogative and a little bit of Color Me Bad too!) and the crowd was strange. It was a bunch of convention goers and wedding reception guests. So it was a mish mash of people who didn't look like they belonged together. We had two pricey drinks each and then moved on to a more down to earth bar across the street.
Date night was a success! We stayed the night at my parents so we could just teeter home and not worry about taking a taxi home. Mom got up with Carly during the night and I even got to sleep in a little on Sunday morning! After that Dad bought us all brunch. I felt like it was a mini vacation to be honest.
Grandparents are a blessing!
