The Holler - a small valley between mountains

Our trip to West Virginia was a hoot! We traveled 5 hours through the beautiful Virginia and Maryland fall colors to get there. (I fell in love with Cumberland Maryland during our drive through "The Cumberland Gap".) We stayed in a holler called Jane's Lew. This West Virginia holler is home to many family Members on Eric's Mom side. Everyone is family in one way or another -- not always by blood.

The people in the holler look out for each other, socialize with each other, and protect their proud history together. The experience was something that us urbanites only read about in books.

Fun Activities that were had:

  • Shooting guns
  • Roasting a pig
  • Horse back riding
  • A real Hay Ride
  • Nature Walks
  • ATV rides
  • Bon Fires (Not Bomb fires)
  • Sex in a cow pasture
  • Eating Hillbilly Sushi (cream cheese & Ham wrapped around a dill pickle)
  • visited a West Virginia Indian cave
  • Drove on dirt road for 4 days
